WONG HOK KAN is a secondary school graduate. Since he is not ambitious, he is quite satisfied with his position as an office assistant in Yik Tung Garment Factory. He is despised by his father as a low-minded fellow. KAN is simple and he is not skilful at tackling with people. Though he is often made fun of by his colleagues, he does not care much and goes on his happy-go-lucky way. His carefree manner inadvertently offends his boss LAW CHUN YIP, thus causing a deadening wound for his promotion. Yet many of KAN's former classmates are holding high positions. One day, he meets his classmate SZE MIU KWAN who encourages KAN to further studying in his spare time.

Though LAW CHUN YIP is entitled to be the boss of Yik Tung Company, the Sales Department and the Production Department are respectively under the control of LAW's second wife CHUNG YUET MAY and LAW's sister LAW YUK KAM. The two women never cease employing their own relatives in order to enforce their power of influence. The CHUNG's party and LAW's party are often making troubles in the tea-cups. Owing to his sense of inferiority, KAN does not dare to show his adoration towards KWAN even though he secretly falls for her. Being a fashion design graduate from the States, CHIU KIT PING is employed by her auntie YUET MAY as designer in Yik Tung. YIP also appreciates very much the ability of PING at which KAM is burnt with jealousy.
